Does anyone out there have this card? Would you be willing to trade it to me?
The reason I ask: I was offered this card plus 5 other cards for my 1968 Jim Bouton on Topps' Million Card Giveaway site. If you've read any of my previous posts, you may know I have been on a bit of a Fritz frenzy lately. I had never seen this card before. It is absolutely bizarre! It looks like a combination of the Lee Harvey Oswald "staged" militant photo and a bad junior high collage. The shadows seem wrong, the back lighting is weird, the grass looks like i did it myself in MS Paint... I lied about the last part. If I did the grass in paint, you would never know, 'cause it would be awesome. But I digress.
This card is freaking me out. Can I have one, please? I know there is an Indians fan out there that might have a double... I could buy it for a quarter on checkoutmycards.com, but I want it NOW!!!
I am not saying that this collage is bad, nor Jr. High-ish in any way. It was all I could find on short notice...

Million Card Wife Swapping...
I know I will never have the largest collection of cards from Topps Million Card Giveaway... but I can definitely have the coolest!
New additions:
New additions:
1973 Fritz Peterson and 1973 Mike Kekich
For those of you unfamiliar with the story, I swapped errr, swiped this from Wikipedia:
The affair began in 1972, when the two couples joked on a double date about wife swapping, a phenomenon that caught on in some uninhibited circles during the early 1970s. According to one report, the first swap took place that summer, after a party at the home of New York sportswriter Maury Allen. The couples made the changes official in October; Kekich moving in with Marilyn Peterson and Peterson with Susanne Kekich, but no word leaked out until spring of 1973. A light moment came when New York Yankees General Manager Lee MacPhail remarked, "We may have to call off Family Day." The trade worked out better for Peterson than it did for Kekich, as Peterson is still married to the former Susanne Kekich, with whom he has had four children. Kekich and Marilyn Peterson did not last long.
I also added this little gem:
Such a cool card! I can't believe I made this trade by mistake... I thought I was getting a 1978 Snuffleupagus...
Damn. I had no idea his first name was Aloysius! (and I always pictured him on the Mets...)

I Am Switzerland...
In the past, PunkRockPaint may have fired off a few Bips in anger. We have seen the error of our ways. This blog will now and forever be neutral in the Great Bip War. Not one tiny Bip will be sent from our mailbox here in San Diego. All Bips are welcome here.
PunkRockPaint is now a safe refuge where cards of Bip Roberts can live in peace.
Why the change? Some say - once a Bipper, always a Bipper. Things have definitely changed for me. A conversation I had recently with the love of my life was the motivating factor in the move toward neutrality. The words still ring in my head many days later:
Me: Baby, I am gonna collect Bip Roberts cards!
Her: Whatever... Idiot. You're just doing it 'cause Thorzul made 'em cool.
Me: No! I have always loved Bip! I have an autographed baseball AND an 8x10 photo!
Her: I've never seen them. Are they in those boxes in the garage? Because nothing says love like stuffing something in a box in the garage...
Me: I just haven't found the right place to display them...
Her: That hasn't stopped you from (finger quotes) displaying (finger unquotes) all this other crap.
Me: I love you...
Her: You're not gonna stuff me in a box in the garage are you?
We eventually came to an mutual agreement. I would clear some additional space in our closet for her clothes, and I could create a Bip sanctuary on top of my bookshelf! I also had to solemnly swear not to stuff her in a box in the garage...
I can understand that many would be leery of sending their Bips to a far off place, with no guarentee for their safety and comfort. I ask that you wait and see the plans for Bipperland before rushing to judgement.
I will keep my loyal readers informed as the project moves forward... (and those of you that stumbled across this blog can check it out too.)

Million Card Joy...
It is mine, mine, alllllll MINE!!! (For $2.92 shipping for the first card, and $.53 each additional card.)
You may remember this card from one of the greatest stories ever told:
All I had to do was offer in trade a card of a "habitual felon". Sweet!
If you aren't familiar with the "guerilla-punk publicity" story behind the card, you can click here to read more:
My copy of Josh Wilker's latest book, Cardboard Gods, just arrived. I am about half way through; enjoying every page!

Congratulations! And The Winner Is...
My man, Doc, from Baseball Card Recollections was the first to correctly put the cards in order. It is nice to know that a fellow Padres fan was the first to solve the puzzle. It is scary to think that a fellow Padres fan's mind could possibly follow my bizzare train of thought.
A Rolling Stone

North side of a

Falls in the
Forest

Nothing (Get it Hall or Nothing...)

A rolling stone gathers no moss grows on the north side of a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound and fury signifying nothing to sneeze at.
Well done, Doc! I am impressed... and frightened.
Honorable mentions go to Mark of Mark's Ephemera (for his rationale that was slightly more bizzare than mine), and dogfacedgremlin (who was within a couple of cards as early as the night of the post.) Tim (d.f.g.) even deleted a comment he made, asking if I meant to post two Chris Snee cards. He was definitely the first to be on the right track!

Checklist Contest...
I recently picked up some cool vintage cards. Perhaps a few too many. Here are some of my "extras":
If nobody answers the question correctly by Sunday, April 18th at 11:59 pm (Pacific time), a winner will be decided based on best rationale for your answer.
The order of the cards may not "make sense", but hopefully you can follow my line of thinking. I will be posting hints in the comments of some of my favorite blogs if nobody gets it in the next couple of days.
I will gladly answer questions regarding the individual cards in the comments section.
I would be happy to mail these off to any of my loyal readers, but I think it would be more fun to have a contest.
So here is your challenge:
I am building a set of the following 14 "cards". I would like them to be arranged in an order that makes sense. The first and last cards in the set are already determined:
Card #1 - Mick Jagger
Card #14 - Piece of History: Email
Please sort the following cards in the proper order:
a.
b.
c.
d.
e.
f.
g.
h.
i.
j.
k.
l.
Please email your checklist order (and why you chose that particular order) to: travis@punkrockpaint.com If nobody answers the question correctly by Sunday, April 18th at 11:59 pm (Pacific time), a winner will be decided based on best rationale for your answer.

LOST... The Retro Baseball Card Set
Man! I don't even read this blog anymore... What the heck are you doing here?
What's that? You want some more LOST cards? Okay.
What's that? You want some more LOST cards? Okay.
PRP LOST - #56 David Shephard
Something I read on Lostpedia makes me think Jack's (alternate universe) son may be important to the finale:
Judeo-Christian tradition holds that a "shepherd" boy named David (who also was a gifted musician) was the only person in Judea brave enough to fight the giant Goliath. He won against improbable odds and became the king of Judea. The most famous Psalm of David, Number 23, opens with the line, "The Lord is my shepherd."

Million Card Trade...
I recently received a trade offer for one of my '59 cards that I actually liked. My Bob Buhl card went away and was replaced with another '59:
1959 - #234 Chuck Tanner
I have previously expressed my fondness of the 1979 World Series champs. Now I have a card of the manager... Sweet.
